It’s hard to believe the official racing season is nearly done. With the end of August came the conclusion of our Summer Race Series.
After six weeks of fun racing and record numbers of participants, we again ended up with close results. In the PHRF class, we had Chad Holcomb’s Yeah Dogg in first place. In second place was Dave Steckman’s boat Juan Solo. Finishing out the podium in third place was Dean Vandament’s Wind Warrior.
In the Windseeker fleet it was Jason Polly on his boat Lemonade who performed consistently and won top honors for the series.
Currently the final racing series of the season, the Fall Series is well under way. This five week series finishes on the 26th of September.
Our final regatta of the season is the Scott Cline Regatta. This regatta will take place the first weekend of October, on the 5th and 6th. This fun regatta is named after our late friend and sailor Scott Cline, who contributed much to the Oak Harbor sailing scene.
The regatta will consist of buoy racing on Saturday with a mid distance race to Baby Island on Sunday. A catered dinner will be held in the upper level of the club Saturday night following racing. This will also double as our end of the year Sail Fleet party. We will be handing out awards for some of our sailing series this season. Open to family and friends. Cost will be $10 pp for some amazing Octoberfest food! Just give us a head count so we know how much food to prepare.
Come join us for this year’s final regatta as we remember Scott and celebrate another great sailing season!
